Stroke - The Facebook Myth

The sensational story that the 'tongue is a new indicator' that a person is suffering a stroke is a time-wasting bit of mis-information.

People have always had tongues, there's nothing new there!

If you want to identify or help someone suffering a Stroke, be it a major Aneurysm or a minor Transient Ischaemic Attack then...

ACT FAST
Facial muscles - check for loss of function or drooping
Arms - ask the patient to raise their arms or push on your hands with theirs, both arms should function the same
Speech - check if they are unable to speak, are unintelligible or have a drooping side to their face
Time - call 999 urgently

FB is great but if you want First Aid Advice - ask a professional, get yourself on a proper first aid course!
