Dear Colleague,
The aim of this initiative is to make Emergency Life Support skills (including CPR and first aid) become a mandatory part of the school National Curriculum. With your help it is hoped that together we can achieve this important objective - the more people that participate, the more likely we are to succeed.
What would we like you to do?
The aim of this initiative is to make Emergency Life Support skills (including CPR and first aid) become a mandatory part of the school National Curriculum. With your help it is hoped that together we can achieve this important objective - the more people that participate, the more likely we are to succeed.
What would we like you to do?
1) Write to your local MP to tell them how important this is and ask them to raise the issue with the Education Minister. We can make this simple for you to do: go to our website (http://www.resus.org.uk/pages/ELSstmt.htm) to download a template letter that you may wish to use.
2) Sign the BHF online petition and encourage your friends and family to do this as well at http://www.bhf.org.uk/get-involved/campaigning/emergency-life-saving-skills.aspx.
3) Spread the word - forward this email to friends and family; go to the Resuscitation Council (UK) Facebook site and share the link with your contacts. If you are a member of any interested groups, ask them to lobby local MPs and the Secretary of State for Education direct.
4) Please email us at ELS2011@live.co.uk to let us know what you have done and which constituency your MP represents. Please note that we will be unable to reply to emails sent to this email address.
Full details of the campaign can be found at: http://www.resus.org.uk/pages/ELSstmt.htm
Thank you in anticipation for your help.
Dr Andy Lockey
Honorary Secretary - Resuscitation Council (UK)
On behalf of the ELS Project Group.
